Hilltop Honey

Scott Davies’s totally natural Welsh Honey is produced by bees that feed on flowers from the hills and valleys of Montgomeryshire and live in hives kept on a hill in Newtown.  His British Honey  is from honey produced by fellow beekeepers and comes in a range of flavours – cinnamon, ginger and chilli. Stocked in Sugar and Spice in Newtown

Neuadd Fach Baconry

From their 35 acre small holding in Llandinam Neuadd Fach produce home reared award winning bacon, sausages, gammon, mini hog roast and other products. You can buy online for home delivery or find their produce in Kerry and Abermule Village shops.

Kerry Vale Vineyard

A small family run vineyard 3 miles south of the charming town of  Montgomery.  Enjoy a vineyard tour and tasting or just pop into the cafe for homemade, locally sourced produce.

 Waen Brewery

The family run brewery started in 2009 and quickly outgrew its original site in Newtown and moved to Llanidloes producing prizewinning beers including internationally know Blackberry Stout.  See a working brewery in operation and buy their beer.  Their new bar is open from lunchtime to 6pm on Fridays and for brewery tours and visits.

 Monty’s Brewery

This award winning brewery is based near Montgomery and brews regular, special ales and stout all year round.  The Sprtsman in Newtown is their brewery tap pub and won Montgoneryshire CAMRA pub of the year 2013.  Their beer can also be found in the Red Lion in Caersws and The Abermule.

Wagyu Beef

Originating from Japan, Wagyu cattle are bred for their marbling potential which increases the juiciness, flavour and tenderness of the meat.  Wagyu fat is healthier because it has a higher ratio of unsaturated to saturated fat and a good balance of omega 3 and 6 fatty acids.  Wagyu are fed beer to stimulate their appetite and massaged to improve muscle tone.  Wagyu beef is now being produced in Mid-Wales.  Find Wagyu beef on the menu at The Abermule and Mirrens


Cultivate is a new social enterprise addressing many of the issues around our local food supply chain and economy.  Cultivate is setting up a market garden on the outskirts of newtown to complement their existing networks of community gardens and school growing sites and run regular training workshops.  Their food centre is based within the grounds of newtown community market garden at Pen Dinas and offer direct sales and home delivery of vegetable boxes, fruit boxes, eggs, honey and Montgomeryshire apple juice.

Castell-y-Dail Smallholding

Castell-y-Dail offers skills and training to vulnerable adults and those with learning disabilities within Montgomeryshire in areas of woodland, horticulture, catering, retail and animal husbandry.Their shop can be found on the Mochdre industrial estate in Newtown and sells home grown seasonal produce, homemade jams, cakes, goat meat and other products tel.01686 622726

Craig Farm Organics

Craig Farm is in Mochdre, Newtown  and run by the Rees family  who have a passion for organic farming.  All butchery and processing is carried out at the farm and they offer a range of products from their own farm and from other traceable local and organic sources.  Buy organic meat, vegetables and other produce on line for home delivery


Montgomeryshire is home to an increasing number of craftsmen and artists.  Michelle Lloyd lives in Kerry and creates gorgeous, individual beaded jewellery and accessories for daytime and evening wear. Email –   Kerry is also home to Josette Gresty who produces vibrant, exciting felt art, small, unique glass pieces and bold expressive paintings.  Email -   In the nearby village of Sarn is the workshop of textile designer, artist and maker Steve Attwood Wright.  Working with 60" wide cloth looms and a heavy rug loom, Steve is intrigued by unusual fabric structures and effects and uses modern materials to create double cloths as well as 3 dimensional cloths. The inspiration for Steve's work comes from the rhythm and colours of the changing seasons, music and poetry.  Before moving to Sarn, Steve spent 20 years as weave tutor at Middlesex University. Maesmawr Art Gallery

Maesmawr Art Gallery is a private gallery just outside Newtown open to the public.  The house, stables and outbuildings with their intriguing mix of Georgian, Tudor and Victorian architecture are set in mature gardens and farmland and offer wonderful exhibition spaces for art.The gallery offers an exciting programme of regularly changing exhibitions, events including live music and poetry evenings, clubs and workshops for adults and children.  There is a cafe onsite serving healthy home cooked food from locally sourced ingredients.

Oriel Davies Gallery Newtown

The Oriel Davies is a contemporary art gallery showing groundbreaking national and international art and craft. There is a licensed cafe and shop selling handmade local and national crafts.

Village shop and post office

Kerry and Abermule are 2 miles away and have 4 pubs and 2 village shops between them.There is a post office shop in Kerry village for day to day essentials. The shop is open from 7am most days and has daily deliveries of bread and dairy products.

There are leisure centres in Newtown and Welshpool with squash courts, badmington courts and soft plays. Welshpool has a fun pool with water slide and rapids and Newtown has a traditional 25m swimming pool

Village pubs and restaurant

There are 2 pubs in Abermule and 2 in Kerry

Abermule Hotel was recently refurbished and under new Management offers excellent food.  

The Kerry Lamb is a newly refurbished with bar, restaurant, lounge and beer garden. The bar offers guest ales from local breweries while the restaurant is an ideal place to relax and enjoy locally produced good food in a warm and friendly atmosphere. A pool table is in a room adjacent to the bar.

The Herbert Arms is a traditional pub with cosy atmosphere offering real ales. The lounge includes a Nintendo Wii and a pool table is in a room adjacent to the bar.
